I’m on a train home for the weekend to have my hair trial and show our photographer the hall where we’re getting married – two weeks today! The train has wifi, and so I thought I’d blog whilst wending my way through the snowy Chilterns :)
I had all these plans to blog the whole wedding planning period, but it turns out planning a wedding in little over three months takes up quite a lot of time! It has been stressful, I won’t lie, but on reflection, I’m not sure I’d have done it any other way. We’ve had to make decisions, and without the luxury of time, this has been a bit easier – we’ve seen two venues, spoken to two caterers, met one photographer, I’ve tried on one dress. I am awful at making decisions, especially when they’re fairly important, and not having the time to make them has been quite liberating.
I’ve also learnt its okay to ask for help. My mum has been brilliant in scoping out stuff back home for us, and having friends to help me make bunting, or take me make up shopping, or even just listen to me when I’m stressing out has been invaluable. Having been there, Relly has been what you might call amazing, talking me down from many a crisis, sending me pep talk emails and presenting me to make up counters with a cheery “this is my friend Nikki. She’s getting married in 3 weeks, and doesn’t wear make up. Can you sort her out please?” I’m thinking of hiring her out.
I’m looking forward to it all now. Everything is in place, I have sparkly red shoes and I’m getting married to someone I’ve grown fairly accustomed to ;) It’s all very exciting :) It does all make me feel very grown up though. We’re going away for a few days after, just up to the Lake District (proper honeymoon is to the States in October) and I’m really looking forward to that as well. Just a few days alone, where we don’t have to think about flowers or canapés or fairly lights or Table centres, and where we can veg out with a pile of DVDs, some books, some sewing and endless mugs of tea.
I’ve just gone past a field with about ten deer in it! Chasing each other in the snow!
